Cochlear implantatie
Het oor is naar voren gebogen en vastgeplakt zodat het
mastoid vrij komt te liggen. Vervolgens wordt er een
mastoidectomie uitgevoerd om toegang te krijgen tot de cochlea waar later de elektrodenbundel in geplaatst wordt.
Cochlear implantation
The ear has been bent forwards and has been taped down so
that the mastoid process is exposed. Then mastoidectomy is
performed to get acces to the cochlea. Later the electrode
array will be positioned.
Het tweede boorgat wordt gemaakt.
The second well is made.
Na de mastoïdectomie wordt er een tweede boorgat gemaakt boven de cantho-meatale lijn ( waarbij het implantaat een draai maakt van 30/40 graden op een vlak deel van de schedel. Voorafgaand wordt er een lijn getrokken met een stift om de checking gauge heen om de grootte van het gat te bepalen. Het boorgat moet precies de grootte hebben van het implantaat.
After the mastoidectomy a second drill excavation above the cantho-meatal line is made ( where the implant makes a turn of 30/40 degrees ) on a flat part of the skull. Before making this hole a line is drawn with a pen around the checking gauge to define thze size of the hole? The excavation must have exactly the size of the implant.
Met de checking gauge wordt gemeten of het boorgat diep en groot genoeg is. Dit instrument heeft de vorm van het implantaat en moet precies passen
With the checking gauge is meassured whether the excavation is deep and large enough. This instrument has the shape of the implant and must fit exactly.
Het ´implant template`wordt tijdelijk geplaatst om de positie van het implantaat te controleren.

Het CI wordt geplaatst in het daarvoor gemaakte boorgat
